These objects all define an interior volume, their form giving a sense of fullness suggesting a capacity for containment. But they are also, without exception, open ended, more like conduits for conveyance, communication, like blood vessels or organs perhaps. So simultaneously evoking artefacts and organisms. Given the common use of the term vessel as a metaphor for the body as container of the spirit, these two readings are interwoven.
